Emily Stern, LMHC-D

Loss doesn’t follow a schedule, and neither does anxiety, trauma or a life that suddenly looks different than it used to. Emily Stern, LMHC-D, works with adults who are carrying something heavy and want a place where they can set it down for a while.

Emily is trained in EMDR, grief treatment, CBT and DBT, and she chooses among them based on what will actually help you. EMDR can help painful memories lose their grip. CBT offers a way to question the thoughts that keep you spinning. DBT gives you skills for riding out intense emotions without getting swept away.

Big life changes get real attention, too. When your roles shift, your routines fall apart or you don’t quite recognize your own life anymore, Emily helps you find your footing again without pretending it should feel easy.

Grief gets the same care. Emily won’t rush you toward “moving on.” She’ll sit with you in what hurts, help you make sense of it, and walk with you toward a life that can hold both the loss and what comes next. She sees clients in person in Manhattan and online across New York, New Jersey and Florida.
